Description
Chassepot bayonets captured during franco-Prussian war had been adopted for Mauser 71, 71/84 and mostly for M1888. This? is one of four variations adopted for M1888. The catch had been cleverly modified and the barrel ring milled to accomodate M1888 barrel. Back of the hild was reduced. This example has Landwehr markings on the crossguard, some of them has an eagle marked on the pommel.
