This is rare bayonet for Remington Rolling Block for National Defence forces manufacured during Franco-Prussian War (1871). The handguard lacks the second rivet and muzzle ring lacks adjustment screw – this simplified design was imposed by increased production. The back of the blade is nicely engraved with date 1871.
