Description
Spanish Chassepot bayonet. The most obvious difference from French original is shape of the blade and fuller. Next one is the scabbard – leather in Spanish, steel in French. Spanish leather scabbards are seldom preserved because they were of poor quality. Blades were also bending easily, crossguards usually have some play. Nevertheless it is a rare bayonet, especially with its original scabbard.
